Evaluating the factors affecting DSS usage in strategic decisions in local authorities in Egypt using a structural equation modelling approach

This article draws on a survey among CEO and IT mangers in local authorities in Egypt to explain the key factors affecting using DSS in making strategic decisions. A structural equation model that extends the generally accepted Technology AcceptanceModel (TAM) is proposed and tested to assess the relationships among the following constructs: task characteristics, cultural characteristics, DSS characteristics, environmental characteristics, organisational characteristics, internal support characteristics, external support characteristics, decision-maker characteristics and top management characteristics and its relation with DSS usage via Perceived Ease of Use (PEU) and Perceived Usefulness (PU).
