According to the present situation, in the paper the author discussed the necessity and the function of the combination of farming and animal husbandry to sustainable development of agriculture in China and also put forward feasible measurements to realize the combination and the evaluation system to the combination. The combination of farming and animal husbandry is a comprehensive system of land, crop cultivation and stockbreeding, in which the natural resources can be used significantly and productively. The effective conversion of matter and energy can promote the development of faming with that of animal husbandry harmoniously. Under the condition of maintaining balance of agricultural ecosystem, more agricultural goods can be produced for increasingly requiring of human being society, which means realization of sustainable development of agriculture.
