Longitudinal magnetic recording may meet its limits including the wide writing track and thermal instability, etc, around 300 Gbit/in{sup}2. A tilted magnetic recording based on micromagnetic simulation was proposed to extend the longitudinal magnetic recording. Perpendicular recording was proposed about 20 years ago. It is always considered as a promising candidate for ultrahigh density magnetic recording.
