Argand and the Early Work on Graphical Representation: New Sources and Interpretations

The aim of the present paper is to investigate the works of some of the mathematicians who dealt with the graphical representation of the complex numbers independently of Wessel and in particular with the most famous of them: Argand. However let me begin by mentioning some of the basic concepts in Wessel's paper in order to establish connections with the ongoing discussion in the mathematical community at large and more specifically in Prance.
