A non-invasive approach has been developed for assessment of human cardiovascular health. It involves evaluation of several critical hemodynamic parameters by means of a computational algorithm. The algorithm consists of a distributed model of the human cardiovascular system [1] that generates a solution library spanning the anticipated range of parameter values. The algorithm further involves a method for establishing the multi-dimensional relationship between the arterial pressure and flow velocity traces, and the critical clinically useful parameters that determine cardiovascular health [2]. Using computer-generated data, the computational algorithm is verified with errors less than 10%. Measurements have also been made on healthy volunteers and patients to assess the clinical feasibility of this approach.
