Evolution of the content as well as the nature of Ti species occluded in the MFI zeolite has been investigated. The reactivity of Ti species formed in the liquid phase strongly influences the incorporation process of Ti atoms. Tuning the balance between the stability of Si and Ti species would enhance the incorporation of Ti into zeolite framework. Based on the results, we have proposed a post-synthesis method for preparing TS-1 using silicalite-1 as a starting material.
