(1) LR contains more resins and asphaltenes, and GR more saturates and aromatics. The property, composition and structure vary not only among the fractions from a single residuum but also between common fractions from different residua, which affect the H_as of the fractions. (2) H_as for fractions of a residuum are very different and tend to decrease in the general order Asp > Res Sat ≥ Arom. At a higher temperature, H_as of LR fractions are larger than those of the corresponding GR fractions. (3) H_as of the fractions can be inhibited when the fractions are mixed, which may result from the hydrogen donor structures in the residuum molecules. H_(AS) increase with increasing temperature and is different for different residua. H_(AS) also shows close relationship to the coke yield inhibition in the coking of residuum.
