Numerical Analysis of a Shield Driven Tunnel in Lisbon

This paper presents the three-dimensional numerical simulation of a shield driven tunnel in shallow urban area. The analysed tunnel is situated in Lisbon downtown and is part of the expansion project of the Lisbon Metro Company. A numerical analysis has been utilised to investigate soil mechanical causalities. With regard to surface settlements a parameter study is carried out and calculation results are compared with measured values.
