Conceptual design of the DEMO blanket

The development step towards fusion power plant is from ITER through DEMO to the commercial reactor. The concept of DEMO is demonstration of electric power plant including T breeding system. The guideline of DEMO blanket is that power generation system in DEMO can be competition with other system and predict requirement technology for commercial reactor. Development as the blanket has been considered high thermal efficiency and fusion material. Target for the blanket system is ferritic steel/solid breeder/supercritical water-cooled blanket. In this workshop, design of supercritical water-cooled blanket is reported. In design structure analysis in the first wall are performed and evaluated. From results of the analysis, possibility of the first wall under DEMO conditions estimated. Finally, development of the blanket system considering relation with ferritic steel as DEMO structure material is discussed.
