The dynamical self-polarisation effect, as predicted originally for the nuclear spin system in a semiconductor, is described in some detail. The possibility of observing this effect for a magnetic impurity spin system is discussed. It is argued that such a phenomenon might be observed in very dilute samples with narrow quantum wells.
