Pressure Equalized Rainscreen (PER) wall design is based on the principle of controlling inward air pressure drive across the exterior cladding (rainscreen). A number of agencies, including the National Research Council of Canada and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, have provided guidelines based on fundamental research for design parameters that affect Pressure Equalized Rainscreen performance. This paper outlines a process developed to translate theory and general principles into a design memodology for the compartmentalization and venting strategy for rainscreen walls.
