X by wire systems benefit vehicles in many ways - cost, packaging, safety and functionality. Many of these systems are technically challenging in isolation. However, their real value is only realised when they are integrated, and this leads to significant further problems with the need to combine functionality and the demonstration of safety from the different manufacturers of the various systems.
