In recent years, much work has been done on thermoresponsive amphiphile block copolymers because of their potential applications as functional biomaterials. Specially, there has been considerable interest in the development of incorporating biodegradable segments into the poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) block with the aim of creating biodegradable amphiphile block copolymers. Many block copolymers consisting of PEG and biodegradable polyesters such as poly(L-lactic acid) (PLA), poly(glycolic acid) (PGA) and polycaprolactone (PCL) have been synthesized. Owing to their thermoresponsive and biodegradable properties, amphiphile block copolymers have great potentials in biomedical applications such as drug delivery and tissue engineering.
