Nonlinear optical properties of organic and polymeric materials have a wide range of applications in photonics. Nonconjugated conductive polymers such as doped polyisoprene are important materials having confined electronic or nano-optical structures1,2. Exceptionally large quadratic electro-optic effect (third order optical susceptibility) has been reported for iodine-doped polyisoprene3. Electrical, optical, FTIR spectroscopic and photoluminescence characteristics of a novel nonconjugated conductive polymer, poly(?- pinene) have been recently reported4.The molecular structure of poly(?-pinene) is as shown in figure 1. In this report, the results of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) measurements of poly(?- pinene) for different doping levels of iodine are discussed.
