The interaction between cells and biomaterials for cell culture plays critical roles in regulating the morphology,proliferation,migration,and differentiation of the cells.An optimal communication and binding between the biomaterial surface and cells is one of the most important factors for the cell adhesion and cell signaling.The nature of cells are known to change and depend on the type of extracellular matrix(ECM)proteins where the cells grow.In this study morphologies of human colorectal adenocarcinoma tumor(CW-2)cells cultured on various protein membranes were investigated.The growth and production of CEA were investigated for CW-2 cells cultured on the membranes prepared from ECM proteins,the heat-treated polyvinyl alcohol(PVA-EA)membranes,and the ECM protein immobilized PVAEA membranes.We examined whether the interaction of cells with various membranes where the cells are cultured enhanced the productivity of CEA.
