摘要

Transition metal-catalyzed living radical polymerization now provides a variety of methods for the precision synthesis of well-defined macromolecules and functionalized polymers,in addition to those of controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distributions (MWDs).We have developed a series of late transition metal catalysts [Ru(II),Fe(II),Ni(II),etc] that,in conjunction with proper initiators,induce living radical polymerization of methacrylates,acrylates,styrenes,and their functionalized derivatives [1].Some of the Ru-based initiating systems also operate in water under suspension/dispersion conditions to form similar living polymers.
