摘要

Organotin-containing polymers have been synthesized for many reasons for over 80 years. Recently we have been involved in their synthesis emphasizing their potential use as anticancer agents. More recently, we described the synthesis of the first water soluble organotin polymers. These polymers are based on the reaction between diorganotin dihalides and hydroxyl-capped poly(ethylene glycols), PEGs. Because of their water solubility, these materials allow a number of important studies related to their biological activity to be undertaken that might otherwise be difficult. These polymers show a good ability to arrest the growth of a variety of cancer cell lines including two pancreatic cancer cell lines. Thus, they represent a potentially important group of materials.
