Latex coatings have attracted great attentions in these years. For a latex coating,the polymer should be of high Tg relatively to the application temperature so that it could form a film with enough hardness and good resistance to weathers or stains. But the minimum film formation temperature (MFFT) will increase with the increase of Tg of polymers. Besides the attempt on the latex morphology design such as the design of core-shell particles,coalescing agents (CA) are often added in the commercial coatings to decrease the MFFT of the latex to a desired temperature.
