Helical crystals have been observed in a series of polyester thin film samples. The chemical structure of these polyester samples are shown in Figure 1 and generally denoted with PET(R*-n), where PET is short for polyester, R* denotes the chirality of the chiral center, and n is the number of methylene units. For example, PET(R*-10) stands for an R(-) enantiomer of the polyester sample with 10 methylene groups on the backbone of the polymer.
