The good mechanical properties of cellulose fibers and their potential as a strengthening agent in composites were recognized long ago.Since then,other properties of cellulose such as low density,biodegradability,and origin from renewable resources have become increasingly important and contribute to a rising interest.Recent focus has been directed to cellulose nanocrystals.
