Atmospheric concentration of selected poly cyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in PM_(2.5) at a roadside and an urban background area in Saitama city, Japan

Concentrations of selected PAHs in PM_(2.5) and PM_(10) fractions at a roadside and an urban background site in Saitama city, Japan, were measured during winter (December, 2004) season. The results of PAHs showed that most of them are in the PM_(2.5) fraction. The two sites were strongly correlated to each other for PM_(2.5), especially for the heavier and more carcinogenic PAHs. The results of source profile ratio indicated that diesel vehicles are strongly thought to be the main source for measured PAHs.
