In order to set standard test dust for air ventilation filters, a database of ambient particles size distribution has created by literature survey to compare with several candidates of test dust. Result shows that size distributions of ambient dusts measured in different countries fall on a same size range, which has slight difference. A positive correlation between PM_(2.5)/PM_(10) exist and the ratio PM_(2.5)/PM_(10) varied among different areas. Mass Median Aerodynamic Diameter (MMAD) is influenced by different area. And the size distribution can be influenced by factors like site types, region and season. Based upon the findings of this study, Although well-dispersed JIS 11 test dust showed fairly better agreement than other test dusts with the ambient dusts, there is a difference. In order to discuss increment of particles under 2um of JIS 11 and uniformity of test dust usage over the world, JIS 11 will be revised.
