The effects of Pr and Gd on the formation of anodic films on Pb electrodes in sulfuric acid solution were studied using ac voltammetry(ACV), cyclic voltammetry(CV), linear sweep voltammetry(LSV) and scanning electron microscopy(SEN). The experimental results show that: (1) Pr and Gd, can remarkably decrease the resistance of the anodic Pb(II) film grown at 0.9V (vs.Hg/Hg_2SO_4) and stimulate the growth of the anodic PbO2 film. (2) Only Gd obviously inhibits the growth of the anodic Pb(II) film. (3) Gd can make the grains of lead alloy finer, resulting in the increase of its corrosion resistance at 0.9V.
