摘要

The mechanical behavior of a mountain bike wheel made in glass reinforced nylon has been studied by means of a finite element model. It has been simulated the service behavior in static and dynamic cases. The part has successfully passed all the numerical tests with reasonable displacements under extreme test conditions. These displacements fall in the elastic region of the material. This, in conjunction with the high toughness and damage tolerance that come from the thermoplastic material employed, results in a superior wheel in comparison with others from the market.
