摘要

Barley yellow dwarf is an important viral disease. The virus (BYDV) has a wide host range including all major cereal crops and many annual and perennial weeds, pasture and range grasses (Lister and Ranieri, 1995). BYDVs are vectored by several aphid species in a persistent circulative manner and mainly limited to the phloem tissue of an infected plant (Gray, 1996). The virus occurs as a diverse complex of at least five species that vary greatly in aphid transmissibility and severity in cereal hosts (Rochow, 1969). The species CYDV-RPV, BYDV-RMV, BYDV-MAV and BYDV-SGV are readily transmitted by Rhopalosiphum padi (L.), R. ma'idis (Fitch), Sitobion avenae (Fab.), Schizaphis graminum (Rond.), respectively, while BYDV-FAV by both R. padi and S. avenae (Rochow, 1969; Power et al., 1991).
