The deregulation of energy markets is causing economic pressure to enhance efficiency of plant operation. Among other things this fact is leading to an increasing shift of core competences and service authorities from utility operators to external tenders. This new demand of services can be satisfied optimally by plant manufacturers by means of new information technology applications, because as manufacturers are possessing an extensive fund of basic knowledge, technical competence and operational experience.
