摘要

After the end of the Cold War and the demise of the Soviet Union, the role of the Greater Middle East, and Turkey in particular, has become even more essential for the West. The latter is virtually interested in ensuring the unhindered flow of oil and gas at reasonable price, and also in diversifying sources of supply outside traditional exporting areas, namely in the Caspian Basin. In the early twenty-first century, Caspian oil might become an international attraction. The lack of internationally accepted regulations is an obstacle for the implementation of politics of energy in the Caspian Sea Basin. Russia -Turkey cooperation is indispensable for efficient energy extraction and transportation and, also, for bringing environment - friendly politics into the Caspian region.
