The abbey mills pumping station renewal project

摘要

This paper describes the project to provide a major new sewage pumping station in east London with a highly innovative design of utilising very large submersible pumps. It covers the historical background to the project and the extensive hydraulic modelling carded out to develop the concept. Details are given of the engineering and architectural elements of the project which have led to substantial cost reductions, while addressing the environmental and heritage aspects of the site.
