It is one of the important aspects to develop a light rail track (LRT) for the urban traffic. It is well known that the construction experience of the LRT has promoted the study and application of various new types of sub-rail foundation structures, specially the integrated ballast track technology. It is of theoretical and practicable significance to develop a low-maintenance, low-cost and good-property ballastless track. However, because of the differences of the mechanism of the soil roadbed and the particularities of the LRT, the layout technology of the integrated ballast track on the soil roadbed does not mature. There are not systematic types of structures, key technologies and construction suggestions. In this paper, based on the existing design experience in the world, and synthetic analysis of all types of integrated ballast tracks and the characteristics of the LRT, a systematic analysis and discussion on design methods is given. At the same time, the layout method of the integrated ballast track on the soil roadbed is referred to. This study is useful for the development of the urban track traffic.
