We obtained a new organosulfur composite cathode material through refluxing a mixture of polyethylene glycol and sulfur up to 561 K. The sulfurized polyethylene glycol (SPEG) was confirmed to contain more than 60 wt.% of sulfur. TG-DTA measurement showed that the mass loss of SPEG up to 773 K was only about 25 wt.%. SPEG cathode showed a large capacity of 564 mAh/g_(SPEG) and 87% of the capacity was maintained even at the 30th cycle, placing this new cathode material as a low-cost contender for high capacity Li-S battery.
