The interest in Supply Chain (SC) decision-making problems is fast growing. One of the major characteristics of this business organization type is scalability of business information environment. This implies that data & knowledge in the SC can be shared via Internet, Intranet, and Extranet for business-to-consumer, business-to-business service, and business-to-business goods transactions. There is an increasing use of AI-based engineering and management technologies in SC problem solving. The objective of SC creation and management utilizing configuration principles is to generate customized solutions based on standard components, such as templates, and baselines. There are two aspects to configuration management, (i) configuring/reconfiguring, and (ii) configuration maintenance. To support these activities, it is important to develop applied pro-active reference models necessary for conceptualization, propagation, and synchronization of reusable SC knowledge. This paper discusses generic technology framework and knowledge representation models for intelligent support of supply chain management with an automotive industry example.
