A simulation model was used to predict the levels of carbon dioxide, humidity, and oxygen in passenger cabins of several aircraft at different flight conditions. The absolute effects of varying passenger loads, air recirculation rates and cabin pressures, were found to be different for each type of aircraft, however general trends of increasing carbon dioxide (CO_2) and humidity levels with increasing passenger loads and recirculation rates were consistent among all the commercial aircraft. The primary factor affecting the partial pressure of oxygen was cabin pressure. The validity of the Air Quality Computer Simulation as a tool for predicting CO_2, humidity and oxygen (O_2) levels at any point in a flight were corroborated by comparing the simulation results with in-flight air quality data collected using the Air Quality Monitor.
