CiDRA is developing high temperature, fiber optic reservoir monitoring systems. Fiber Bragg grating based pressure and temperature measurement systems have been designed and qualified and are pending field deployment. A fiber optic based, multiphase flow meter is under development and has completed a technology demonstrator well test. In this test, the flow meter demonstrated the ability to measure water cut, gas volume traction, and flow rates for low gas volume fraction mixtures of oil, gas and water. The full suite of pressure, temperature and multiphase flow sensors under development share a common fiber optic operating principle and can be multiplexed on a single fiber optic cable. This full line of fiber optic sensing systems will provide enhanced capability to monitor reservoir production on a real time, spatially distributed basis.
