The tubes of heat exchanger in fluidized bed incinerators suffer from high temperature erosion-corrosion due to impact of sand flown by a hot air stream which usually contains about several hundreds ppm chlorine. The combined effect of erosion and oxidation/corrosion on metals and alloys has been the subject of studies. In this project the effects of air flow rate, chlorine content of the sand, angle of incidence on the erosion-corrosion behavior of a Ni based alloy was studied. The current study aimed to develop a method to evaluate the erosion-corrosion behavior of materials used in fluidized bed incinerators.
