The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental organisation based in Paris. Its membership comprises thirty countries, of which most are advanced, developed economies with a high standard of living. The OECDprovides a forum where countries come together, not to negotiate or disburse monies, but to disburse advice. With the help of a secretariat drawn from the member states, the OECD's many committees and working parties analyse and compare economic policiesand their consequences. Sectoral and structural issues receive much attention, as do the major macroeconomic issues that preoccupy societies and governments.
