MAAP 4.0 is a well-known, stand-alone code, specifically designed for severe accident simulation. Severe accident can be defined as any transient leading to a loss of reactor cooling and fuel damage, including cladding oxidation and hydrogen generation, fuel melting, vessel failure, containment failure and fission product release. CAE was contracted to integrate MAAP 4.0 into the full scope simulator supplied to Nuklearna Elektrarna Kr?ko. MAAP 4.0 is not designed for generalized simulator applications. In fact, it is designed for the efficient simulation of extremely long-term transients. After licensing MAAP 4.0 from Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), there were some important design considerations for MAAP 4.0 that needed to be considered in order to integrate and test it with CAE's simulation environment.
