Isis~(?): The Latest in Instructor Station User Friendliness

CAE's instructor station, Isis~(?), designed to assist the instructor to control the training environment and monitor all aspects of trainee and simulator performance, has been significantly improved in the last year. Isis has all the design features necessary to allow it to be tailored to the operational needs of the user. Completely Web-enabled and fully interoperable, Isis now incorporates a state-of-the-art Java server offering a portable, flexible and functionally rich software solution. The XML communication layer allows any type of client (from a Linux client to a PDA) to connect to the simulator server. Isis now comes with Windows-based client software to allow powerful, high-resolution, hardware, and quality graphics to create an intuitive and user-friendly interface. In addition, a PDA (Palm and Pocket PC) client can offer a subset of the full functionality. The rich Windows-based client offers the Instructor a state-of-the-art interface views equipped with advanced search and filter features to maximize training session management and development. The Lesson management system now incorporates advanced built-in security features. Lesson management is performed using a Flow-Chart type editor which lets the user build, monitor and manipulate comprehensive lessons with minimal effort. The paper will provide a full description of Isis as it is being used on programs such as the San Onofre Simulator Upgrade and the Fort Calhoun Simulator Refurbishment. New features like Trainee Performance Review (TPR) and Auto-Testing, which are about to be implemented, will also be presented.
