Compression Properties of Phenol Foam Composite under High Temperatures

Phenolic resin has originally advantages of heat proof, flame proof and less smoke during burning and these advantages are suitable properties in the construction field. We have presented a development of pultrusion technique of the phenolic foam composite using phenolic resin foam as matrix and roving glass fibers as reinforcement. In order to apply this FRP to members in the field of construction, we also have reported mechanical and thermal insulation properties. In this paper, we evaluate compression characteristics of phenolic foam composite and ceder under the temperatures of room, 100°C and 200°C, relatively. As a result, compressive strengths and moduli of phenolic foam composite are stable under high temperature in comparison with those of ceder.
