Measurement of the temperature changes which occur as a body undergoes a change in stress is becoming a widely used technique for the analysis of surface stress fields and internal damage. The technique is based on the temperature change from adiabatic deformation of materials. However, being often used as laminates, fiber composite materials experience the non-adiabatic effects which can appear due to the different thermoelastic heat from each of internal plies in a composite material. In this paper, an experimental examination about the effect of thermal conduction on observed surface thermoelastic temperature changes for the composite materials is reported. It is essential to take the local appearance of damage and the anisotropically thermal conduction into consideration so as to get enhanced quantitative temperature changes in woven fabric composite laminates.
