This paper shows the preliminary experimental results of aerodynamic characteristics of air-breathing blunt model. If there is a hole at the front end of model, it is expected to reduce the drag coefficient because the model shape changes locally and base pressure increases due to the air through the model. Experiments in hypersonic flow are performed and the results shows the drag coefficient of the model with hole at front is reduced a little in comparison to that without hole whereas there is no difference in Schlieren photographs, that are flow fields. The reduction on drag coefficient is discussed using the results of Newtonian theory analysis.
