The effects of trip wires and a round-rod grid on the development of a liquid plain; mixing layer with a chemical reaction were experimentally investigated. The results show that turbulent mixing and chemical reaction are significantly promoted by installing trip wires and a round-rod grid. The amount of chemical product in the mixing layer with the grid is larger than that in the mixing layer with the trip wires, despite the same turbulence level of the intensity in the vertical direction around the centerline of the test section in the two flows. Self similarity is observed even in the mixing layer with a grid.
