Bricks.-A packing for reaction towers and like apparatus for mixing, cooling, condensing, and generally treating liquids and gases consists of channel-like structures a, which are of #-shape, #-shape, or W-shape in cross - section, with shoulders b on their outer surfaces to support a superimposed row. Perforations or slats c are formed near the shoulders for the passage of the gases and liquids. Vertical side strips f are placed against the walls of the casing to support the outer rows of bodies and to prevent leakage. The sides of the bodies may be corrugated.
