We are developing the numerical model called the RIAM-COMPACT (Research Institute for Applied Mechanics, Kyushu University, Computational Prediction of Airflow over Complex Terrain). The object domain of this numerical model is from several m to several km, and can predict the flow of the wind over complex terrain with high precision. In this paper, using the RIAM-COMPACT with a generalized curvilinear collocated grid, we performed the calculation of flow past a two-dimensional steep ridge. The numerical results were compared with those of the wind tunnel experiment using the SFP (Split-Film Probe). As a result, both of the numerical simulation and wind tunnel experiment showed a good agreement. The prediction accuracy of RIAM-COMPACT was confirmed.
