Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been considered for a broad spectrum of power generation applications. The main attractive feature of the SOFC is its clean and efficient production of electricity from a variety of fuels. A high-performance SOFC technology has been under development at GE Hybrid Power Generation Systems for commercial power systems and products. In addition to its high power density, this technology has the potential for low-cost manufacture.
