In preparation of the development of the European navigation system Galileo, laboratory models for Galileo type DS-CDMA navigation signal generation (also frequently named 'navigation payload processor') and for a navigation receiver have been developed and implemented. Objectives were settin up a laboratory experiment working with Galileo-like navigation signals in controlled environment, gaining knowledge about how to build and program Galileo navigation payloads, especially the signal generation part including an TSC 21020 based computer system, and performing a pre-development of a Galileo compatible receiver for use on-board of low earth orbiting (LEO) or geostationary (GEO) satellites.
