Large Span Spatial Structures -China and the World

摘要

One of the special features in the development of human history is the continuous improvement and expansion of its living space. All buildings require a larger and larger space for operation, which is characterized by long span, lightweight and variable forms. Various forms of spatial structures proved to be a rational and effective form to serve the purpose. In the paper, a historical review and modern developments of large span structures around the world are discussed. Examples taken from the advances of spatial structures in China show the impact of the advanced technique from outside and innovations on its own effort.
