Application of sulfur cycle bacteria for the remediation of groundwater pollution

摘要

Sulfur cycle bacteria can be exploited to remove (in)organic sulfur compounds and heavy metals from waste- and/or groundwater. New challenges for research and development are the selection of mixed bacterial cultures for operations under practical (extreme) conditions such as high/low pH, temperature, salt concentrations and toxic compounds in the water phase.
