Toward a Taxonomy of Agile Worksystems

摘要

This paper discusses a preliminary framework for classifying production systems for goods and services in terms of their ability to make use of crosstrained (flexible) workers. The primary objectives of such a classification are (1) to provide a tool for practitioners to evaluate the potential benefits from workforce agility in a given system, and (2) to help identify opportunities for research into design and control policies for specific production environments.
