Consequence Assessment: How Far Is Far Enough?

In the past two decades, very considerable international effort and resource has been deployed in deriving and validating models for consequence assessment as part of the process of managing the risks from the storage and use of hazardous substances. The many models which are now available continue to involve uncertainties, and substantial further (often collaborative) research effort is continuing to be deployed in addressing these uncertainties, and in further model development.
