The algorithsm of G.723.1 coder are analyzed and studied in this paper. Searching the large-sized codebook in this coder is still found to be time-consuming. Therefore, in order ot speed up the code vector searching and otpimize the algorithms, a new fast vecotr quantization method based on clustering analysis is put forward. The scheme of realizing the specific clustering analysis algorihtm is described. Experiments and actual exectuion on G.723.1 coder show that its executive efficiency has bene obviously improved by the optimization while its speech quality has little degradation.
